GB10WTW Walk the Wight 3rd of may 2008 |
|
The 3rd of May 2008 was our first club special event of the year, we joined the celebrations that marked the start off the 10th year of walk the Wight which is now the Uks largest walking festival, the event was held at the quay in Newport which is in the centre of the island, we arrived to set up at 9.00 o'clock and with some technical problems we were up and running by 10.30 it was a warm sunny day but we suffered with heavy QRM which made contacts difficult, But as Colin M0GUN mentioned that's the fun of amateur radio, The high sheriff of the island Alan Titchmarsh sailed up the medina river on a steam paddle ship at lunch time we tried 20m, 40m and 80m but with lots off QRM we had a enjoyable day and packed up around 4 o'clock |
