Saturday & Sunday 25/26th September 2010 Railways on the Air GB4IWR at Havenstreet Station

The Special Event Station for Railways on the Air at Havenstreet Station was very successful.  We made 306 contacts, including 21 railways, in 12¼ hours of operating. That’s one every 2.4 minutes! After setting up the station on Saturday morning we started by calling CQ on 7.107 at 11:00 and soon had our first QSO, F6GOX in Paris. After that we never stopped, we stayed on 7.107 until it was time to close down at 16:30 with 157 contacts logged. At Havenstreet we have to put our rig in a shady spot because of access to mains power, and at this time of year shady means cold, hence the early finish. However we started at 09:15 on the Sunday and tried 40m, 80m and 20m before settling on to 40m again and holding our frequency for nearly five hours. At great weekend enjoyed by all.
